Our Company

Skincare has been around since ancient times, when herbal skincare was probably the only way to take care of the dermis. However, modern skincare has transformed in a big way. Traditional herbal skincare routines have been replaced by synthetic/chemical-based skincare regimens. The herbal skincare recipes, which once used to be commonplace, are in disuse today and even unknown to the mainstream population.
The transformation from herbal skincare to synthetic can be attributed to three things - our own laziness, the fast pace of modern life, and the commercialization of skincare. Even herbal skincare products have been commercialized. Viable herbal skincare products are mixed with preservatives in order to increase their shelf life, hence making them less effective than fresh mixtures. Things change fast, however, and now more people are opting for natural herbal skincare routines. The problem facing consumers in this regard is the fact that most people cannot afford the time it takes to prepare organic herbal mixtures themselves, and therefore the manufacturing of more commercial products is on the rise. This is where Dermazone® steps in to distinguish itself as an organic, authentically South African brand.
There are certain integral herbal elements contained in any organic herbal skincare product line. Aloe Vera, which is an extract from the Aloe Vera plant, is one of the best examples of herbal skin care product. Freshly extracted Aloe Vera is a natural hydrating agent that helps soothe the skin. It also helps in healing wounds and can be used in the treatment of sunburns. A number of herbs are known to possess cleansing properties. Dandelion, chamomile, lime flowers and rosemary herbs are a few examples of such cleansers. Their herbal skincare properties are infused when they are combined with other herbs like tea. Antiseptics are another important part of herbal skincare. Lavender, marigold, thyme and fennel are good examples of herbs that are known to possess antiseptic properties. Lavender water and rose water also form good toners. Oils prepared from herbal extracts present another means of herbal skincare. Tea tree oil, lavender oil, borage oil and primrose oil are some popular oils used in herbal skincare. Some fruit oils even find use in shower gels as a hydrating mix.
Herbal skincare is good not only for the routine nourishing of skin, but also for treatment of skin disorders like eczema and psoriasis. Most herbal skincare products do not have any side effects (the most important reason for preferring them to synthetic products) Most of these essential herbal elements are found in the Dermazone® range. The effectiveness of herbal skincare products does not mean that one can totally discard synthetic products. It is a fact that some skin disorders call for the use of clinically proven, non-herbal skin care products and medications. Dermazone® does, however, aim to invest in the well being of all skin types in South Africa by constantly broadening it’s product base using pure, natural ingredients that offer an alternative to potentially harmful synthetic products in the long term.
